Position Opening: Credit Department Manager

Responsibilities and Expectations
Key Responsibilities
Manage Commercial Credit Underwriting
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Credit Department
- Direct management of the Credit Managers/Team Leads
- Direct management/oversight of the Credit Department Reporting Specialist
- Completes annual reviews for Credit Managers/Team Leads/Credit Department Reporting Specialist
- In conjunction with HR and the Credit Managers/Team Leads the Credit Department Manager II conducts interviews of potential credit analyst candidates - to ensure that the candidates have the education, technical skills and drive needed in order for the candidates to be successful on their job and to fit into Equity Bank's culture
- Responsible for the overall workflow of the department
- Facilitates with the Credit Managers/Team Leads communication between the Regional CEOs, Market Presidents, Bankers, Credit Analysts and Senior Management to minimize credit underwriting turnaround time
- Reviews analysts work to ensure quality and consistency across the department
Credit Administration
- The Credit Department Manager II along with the Credit Managers/Team Leads, Credit Officer(s), and Chief Credit Officer, will work in conjunction to establish and maintain credit administration policies, underwriting guidelines and credit procedures
- In conjunction with the Credit Managers/Team Leads, will ensure that credit requests are accurate and complete, including financial analysis
- Be cognizant of current credit guidance with economic and industry trends to maximize opportunities and minimize risk
- Ensure that the credits have been assigned the proper risk rating by the loan officer and or loan committee(s)
- Review minutes of the credit meetings to ensure minutes are accurate
- Analyze and implement credit administration process improvements that improve the efficiency and quality of the department
- Responsible for all Credit Department Reports
- Responsible for updating Loan Policy
Credit Training and Development
- Lead/organize all formalized training and development programs within the credit administration department
- Lead/organize semi-annual credit trainings with Bankers
- Proactively seek training opportunities to advance the knowledge and skillset of the overall credit department
- Coordinate with the Compliance Department in-house compliance training
- Ensures that the Credit Department completes the mandatory compliance trainings with the proscribed timeframes
- Challenge Credit Analysts to pursue professional and personal growth opportunities
- Challenge Credit Managers/Team Leads to further develop credit and management skills
Bank Management
- Support and implement Directors' and Senior Management Decisions
- Provide constructive input and ideas to improve the Bank's credit quality and performance
- Represent the Bank in a professional manner in the community
- Assist in M&A credit due diligence
Understand and follow the applicable laws and regulations for job responsibilities including, but not limited to:

- Suspicious Activity Report ('SAR")

Other duties as assigned or required
Required Skills & Education Requirements - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- 5-7 years banking experience required
- 3-5 years supervisory experience required
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional manner
- Computer skills, especially the ability to work in Windows based systems
- The Credit Department Manager II will have a thorough understanding of the following:
- Loan Policy, Underwriting guidelines and credit procedures
- Commercial loan types and their uses in loan structuring
- Commercial loan documentation including security documents (UCCs, Security Agreements, Real Estate Mortgages)
- Real Estate Appraisals and Evaluations
- Environmental Reports
- Governmental Guarantee Programs including US Small Business Administration, USDA, Farm Services Agency
- Specialized Lending - Hotels, Construction & Development, Franchise Restaurants, Non-Owner Occupied CRE
- Employee is responsible for understanding and following the applicable laws and regulations for their job responsibilities including but not limited to Equity Bank Business Ethic and Conduct policy, Bank Secrecy Act, Information security, and Suspicious Activity reporting requirements
