Job Summary:

As a project engineer, you'll embody this approach while performing tasks within the design and build processes, jobsite safety, and upholding Hutton standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the project manager, estimator, project superintendent and design team.
  • Communicate company values and expectations and apply them constantly and consistently.
  • Uphold safety standards and require fellow team members to do the same.
  • Analyze and understand plans and specifications for each project.
  • Ensure plans and specifications align with submittal/RFP packages sent from subcontractors before sending to the design team to review.
  • Assist with the budgeting and estimating processes, survey scope quantities, enter data in estimating software and attend the estimate review with the project manager.
  • Draft subcontractors, purchase orders and change orders for review/approval by the Project Manager.
  • Assist the project manager with subcontractor management and material procurement.
  • Develop site logistics plans, phasing and completion plans working with the Superintendent.
  • Assist the Project Team with developing and maintaining project schedules
  • Review trade partner pay applications and insurance requirements for alignment with project and company specifications.
  • Effectively compile and manage RFIs
Requirements

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow OSHA, and Hutton safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of building codes, design, site control, inspection procedures and scheduling.
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate plans and specifications.
  • Able to lead and motivate others to accomplish tasks safely.
  • Able to productively work in a team environment.
  • Able to follow directions as specified.
  • Able to clearly communicate instructions and expectations.
  • Able to do repetitive detailed work as needed.
  • Able to solve problems quickly with tact and diplomacy.
  • Able to get to and from work utilizing own transportation and company vehicles.
Special Requirements & Software Skills Preferred:
  • OSHA 10/30-Hour Certified
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Construction Scheduling Software (ASTA, Primavera or Equivalent)
  • Estimating Software (Timberline, Beck or Equivalent)
  • PDF viewer and editing software (Bluebeam, Adobe or Equivalent)
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's in construction management, construction science, business administration, engineering, or related field is preferred
  • Training opportunities will be available on the job to further advance your skills
Work Environment:
  • You will work mainly within an office environment with regular opportunities for site visits and onsite opportunities
  • Collaborative Team environment consisting of Senior PMs, PMs, Assistant PMs, and other Project Engineers
