RECORDS AND ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

Foulston are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Records and Accounting Assistant for our Wichita office. The ideal candidate will be a high-performing individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to maintaining the highest level of accuracy and compliance. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key financial and records management tasks while directly contributing to the accounting team's overall efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the Firm's records management lifecycle, including the coding, storage, and retrieval of documents from our secure offsite vendor facility.
  • Uphold the Firm's retention schedule policy by actively monitoring and executing it in collaboration with other locations, ensuring full adherence to all policies.
  • Maintain and reconcile firm credit card statements, ensuring all expenses have appropriate support documentation and approvals. Accurately enter expenses into the correct accounting workflow and proactively identify and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Manage the Firm's petty cash fund, including documenting all inflows and outflows, verifying requests, accurately recording transactions, and reconciling the fund.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of certain vendor accounts, ensuring proper coding to the appropriate client or ledger account.
  • Support compliance with internal accounting practices and procedures.
  • Support the accounting department by assisting with special projects, data entry, and back up during peak periods.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:
  • Aptitude to be detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong technical foundation, including experience in Microsoft Office products, with a demonstrated capacity adapt to new technologies and processes
  • Ability to organize and correctly prioritize tasks
  • Skill in collaborating effectively and fostering positive relationships
  • Experience in conveying ideas clearly through spoken and written communication
  • Accounting experience is helpful but not required

Foulston offers a robust benefits package, and we strive to provide a positive work environment that is both professionally and financially rewarding. Standard hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position will be fully on-site for a period of time before becoming eligible to apply for participation in the firm's hybrid work-from-home program. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
