Lavner Education is seeking experienced, dynamic, and engaging tutors to provide one-on-one test preparation for Lavner Prep students. While proficiency in both Math and Verbal is ideal, we strongly encourage specialists in either the Math or Verbal sections of the SAT/ACT to apply. We are looking for individuals who can immediately step into this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruction & Student Mentoring

• Provide high-quality, one-on-one instruction for students preparing for the SAT and ACT, focusing on your area of expertise (Math or Reading/Writing) or both if you are a generalist.
  • Math focus: Cover all required Math sections (Algebra, Geometry, Data Analysis) and advanced problem-solving techniques.
  • Verbal focus: Cover Reading Comprehension, Grammar/Punctuation rules, and strategic approaches to the Writing and Language sections.
• Utilize proven curriculum and materials, adapting lessons to suit the individual student's learning style, academic level, and score goals.
• Administer and analyze student performance on diagnostic assessments to pinpoint specific areas of weakness and growth, and use this data to inform a Custom Study Plan.
• Teach effective strategy and practice techniques, including time management, test-taking methodologies, and confidence-building routines.
• Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate regularly with the Test Prep Manager regarding student performance and pacing.
• Instill a growth mindset and motivate students aiming for highly competitive schools and substantial score improvements.

Professional & Administrative

• Accurately track student hours, progress, and session notes using our digital platform.
• Participate in specialized training sessions to stay current on changes to the standardized tests (Digital SAT, ACT) and instructional best practices.
• Uphold the professional, encouraging, and mission-driven standards of Lavner Prep.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree or higher (degrees in Math, English, Education, or a related field are a strong plus).
• Minimum 2+ years of experience providing one-on-one or small-group test preparation for the SAT and ACT.
• Exceptional standardized test scores (documented 95th percentile or higher on the SAT/ACT is strongly preferred).
• For Specialists: Demonstrated mastery and high test scores in your area of focus (Math or Verbal).
• Demonstrated ability to teach complex concepts in an engaging and accessible manner.
• Experience working with high-achieving students targeting Ivy League and top-tier universities.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Must be able to quickly take ownership of the student relationship and deliver results.
• Clearance of all required background checks.
