Job Description

BCS Allegient has a 35-year history of helping government, research, and private sector clients implement their programs and missions to achieve success. We offer a breadth of professional support services in the areas of business management, communications, systems engineering, analysis, mission execution, and organization performance. BCS Allegient is currently hiring for a Legislative Affairs Specialist to support our client at the Department of Energy. This position is a 4-month temporary position.

Position Duration: January 20th, 2026 - April 20th, 2026

This position supports the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Advanced Manufacturing & Materials Technologies Office in legislative affairs. The candidate will ensure the office is tracking requests and submitting timely requests for congressionally directed reports and related activities. The position requires a high level of organization, strong attention to detail, and professional and proficient communication. We are seeking a motivated and organized self-starter with knowledge of processes related to federal budgets and congressional appropriations.

Candidate will be responsible for:

  • Tracking congressionally directed reports from appropriations language.
  • Managing congressional communications including responses to congressional requests for information.
  • Liaising with EERE and DOE legislative affairs teams.
  • Supporting amplification plans.
  • Drafting memos, briefing decks, and talking points for the Office, EERE, and DOE leadership speaking engagements.
  • Guiding submissions through approval workflows while maintaining tight version control.
  • Drafting talking points and backgrounders for media interviews.
  • Coordinating with national laboratories to help amplify funded projects.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (Public Policy, Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism, or other appropriate discipline).
  • At least Five (5) years' work experience.
  • Professional attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including plain language.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a highly dynamic collaborative team.
  • Ability to balance multiple long- and short-term projects and competing priorities.
  • Must be US citizen.
Preferred:
  • Experience working within DOE.
  • Working knowledge of and/or experience in manufacturing technologies.
