Neighborhood pools are set to open Monday, May 25, 2026./liliApplications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and candidates will receive an update on their application status. Candidates who meet the requirements will be contacted for interviews closer to the anticipated hiring timeframe, beginning in March./liliPosting may close at any time./li/ulpExamples of Work Performed:/pulliMonitor assigned recreational pool area to detect hazards, disturbances, or safety infractions, by practicing preventative lifeguarding./liliRecognize and respond effectively in emergencies./liliEnforce all City of Wichita Parks pools policies and procedures./liliAdminister Swim Lessons./liliCompletes daily incident and cash reports./liliSchedules staff to the needs of the facility and ensures that coverage is maintained at adequate levels./liliAdminister a regular in-service training schedule for staff./liliEnsure facility cleanliness and maintain operations of chemicals and filtration of the pool systems./liliThese examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed./liliAt no time should any other job duties interfere with the primary responsibilities of a lifeguard: The safety of the patrons./li/ulpRequirements of Work:/pulliAbility to listen to, read, interpret, and apply instructions received./liliAbility to plan, organize and supervise the work of others./liliAbility to handle chemicals that require a respirator./liliAbility to lift empty containers weighing up to 60lbs up to a 4 ft height./liliAbility to lift and move large, sometimes bulky objects weighing up to 80lbs with assistance./liliAbility to climb steps or ladders./liliAbility to move about quickly and stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop or squat, as needed to perform assigned tasks./liliAbility to work outdoors in unpleasant weather conditions./liliAbility to tolerate airborne nuisances associated with open grounds and windy conditions./liliAbility to climb onto and sit on a lifeguard tower for extended periods of time./liliAbility to physically perform life guarding activities, including techniques of swimmer rescue./liliAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public./liliAbility to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing./liliAn employee will not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace./liliOffers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of a criminal record check./li/ul/div
