Description:

Job Title: Technician 4 - Supply

Position Function: Responsible for the accurate and expedient processing of incoming and outgoing materials for District use. Performs a wide variety of duties using USD 259's financial reporting software, operating large delivery vehicles and equipment, and maintaining extensive records. This position must be capable of performing any duty within the Supply team and complete work as assigned by the Supply Supervisor.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:

  • In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
  • Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator
  • All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position


Additional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by the Supply Supervisor or the Supply Chain Director.

Equipment: This position requires the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, and scanners. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use. The employee must demonstrate the ability to use various materials handling equipment.

Travel: Some travel within district may be required.

Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Ability to work indoors in extreme heat and cold and outdoors in inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, or snow
  • Regular attendance required to meet the demands of the position and for effective teamwork
  • Attendance at required meetings
  • Ability to bend, twist, balance, stoop and kneel
  • Lifting of 20-50 pounds and occasional lifting of 50-100 pounds is required
  • Normal work day is from 7:00AM to 3:30PM with occasional overtime as situations dictate


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
  • Adequately and effectively function in Microsoft, proficient with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, have worked with some form of online purchasing or financial software
  • Knowledge of Oracle software a plus
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment, such as copy machine, fax machine, network printers of various sizes, and multi-line telephones
  • Ability to see and hear well, deal with angry people, handle multiple priorities and concentrate on tasks
  • Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance
  • Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them


Interrelations:
  • Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
  • Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks
  • Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
  • Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service


Essential Performance Responsibilities:
  • Perform all services associated with processing physical and electronic receipt, requisition, and delivery of items using USD 259's financial reporting software.
  • Accurately prepare shipments for delivery. Including but not limited to labeling packages, stacking and wrapping pallets, sorting mail, tabbing and preparing bulk mail, and loading trucks.
  • Assist in maintaining internal inventory using cycle counting and first-in, first-out practices.
  • Operation of automotive delivery vehicles (large box trucks & SUVs) and materials handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, etc.) to facilitate deliveries and pick-ups of materials to and from sites.
  • Maintains records and databases for all transactions between USD 259 and freight vendors for department reference and creates reports as requested.
  • Research and solve problems for vendors and district personnel concerning purchase orders, bids/proposals, deliveries, and payment of invoices.
  • Cleanup and maintenance of work spaces, vehicles, shelving, tools and equipment used by the department.
  • Capable of facilitating operations of AMAC mailroom when necessary.
  • Provide support for and perform the job of crewpersons in the event of absences.
  • Complete all daily tasks safely and in accordance with all governing laws and regulations.
  • Provide training and support to Supply Chain or other district personnel on Oracle functions or Supply Chain procedures.


Qualification Profile:
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred
  • Must maintain a valid Kansas Driver's license
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Materials Handling Equipment Certification within 90 days of employment
  • 1-5 years experience operating large commercial delivery vehicles is preferred. Demonstrated ability to operate large commercial delivery vehicles is required.
