Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for building effective, authentic relationships with children, parents, volunteers and staff; greeting and becoming familiar with youth by name.
Communicating on a daily basis with Site Coordinator regarding programming and expectations.
Assisting with the recruitment, planning, supervision and management of students and daily activities.
Interacting, supervising and leading program participants in accordance with YMCA guidelines at all times in all areas of the building and activities.
Supervising youth while riding the bus during transport; enforcing bus rules.
Beginning and ending program on time; remaining after program to answer participant or parent questions as needed.
Conveying information on outreach programs and schedules and as appropriate.
Administering student and parent surveys.
Completing daily cleaning duties and additional as deemed necessary.
Setting up and cleaning-up program area. Reporting any facility or equipment irregularities, unsafe conditions or feedback to supervisor in writing.
Responsible for the safety and well-being of participants; reporting disciplinary problems to the Site Coordinator.
Following and enforcing all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including illness, emergency, and safety procedures.
Responsible for being knowledgeable and prepared to implement emergency procedures.
Reporting all incidents/accidents on the appropriate form providing to supervisor within 24 hours of event.
Submitting completed records on time (i.e. daily attendance, surveys).
Attending all required training sessions and scheduled meetings.
Maintaining prompt hours and following established procedures for absences.
Supporting Strong Community Campaign fundraising.
All other duties as assigned.
Effect on End Result: Compliance with Middle School After School Program Leader responsibilities will ensure a safe, supervised, quality program driven by needs and input of participants. Growth in program participation is expected.

High School diploma or equivalent
Relevant work experience working with youth
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Must be able to routinely perform the following physical activities; climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand, walk and perform light to moderate physical activity for extended periods of time, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity
Must have ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing
Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
Must demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment and the desire to work with all ages, especially youth
Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision
Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
Must work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently and lead by assigned goals, duties and deadlines
Must present a neat and professional appearance at all times

Summary:
Under the supervision of the Senior Program Director, the MSAS Leader will assist the Site Coordinator in supervision and management of all program activities both on and off campus to provide a safe, supervised, and engaging experience to all MSAS program participants.
