Job Purpose

Coordinates production in the manufacturing facilities. Maintain a plant culture that compliments and reflects the mission/vision of BG Products and its Operations. Understanding, meeting, or exceeding all internal/external customer needs striving to create a streamlined and efficient operation that supports all functions of a manufacturing operation. Identify areas of improvement, opportunities for growth, development, and innovation; set standards and strive to improve them. Communicate in an effective and timely manner; keeping upper management, department heads, team leaders and employees informed of all pertinent information. Coordinate with the Plant Manager in resolving plant issues.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Leads by example to achieve BG's vision and Core Values.
• Adheres to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
• Supervise the direct processing of materials and the associated hourly workforce to ensure attainment of key business results in areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery to our Internal and External Customers.
• Assist top management to direct and coordinate plant operations to meet customer demand in accordance with our Mission/Vision statement and company policies
• Manage conflict and effect resolution to technical and personnel challenges is key along with openness to change and the ability to effect positive change.
• Collaborate with team members in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and action plans.
• Develop and manage department budgets.
• Support activities in the areas of cost containment, efficiency, productivity, energy conservation, waste minimization, operational excellence and lean practices.
• Assure compliance with safety, environmental practices, ISO, and SOPs in the work area.
• Participate in external/internal audits and inspections.
• Initiate the investigation when a quality or safety event occurs during the shift.
• Work with members from Quality, Maintenance, Blending, and Technology to properly handle unplanned events.
• Ensure that corrective actions are implemented.
• Ensure that personnel under his/her supervision are properly trained in procedures, good documentation practices and regulatory matters.
• Participate in design and implementation of training and development programs.
• Perform performance management and disciplinary process.
• Ensure materials receiving and verification in the work area, equipment cleaning, set-up and area cleaning and verification are completed according to procedures.
• Assure that materials are properly handled and equipment is properly operated according to SOPs, guidelines, and regulations.
• Maintain control of processes and product quality by ensuring compliance with ISO, safety and environmental regulations.
• Monitor the manufacturing processes during the shift.
• Demonstrate integrity, credibility, and flexibility in their daily performance so as to motivate others to do the same.
• Evaluate, coach, mentor, train, lead, and develop employees.
• Work overtime as needed, manage after-hour call backs and monitor operations remotely.
• Other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Minimum three (3) years of manufacturing, production management, and/or leadership or similar experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing in a production/manufacturing environment. Additional experience with project, production, and/or operations, leadership skills, strongly preferred.
• Certified Forklift and Reach Truck Operator preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred.
